Getting out of bed in the morning is definitely a challenge in July. You dream about never leaving the bed and staying warm and toasty under your blanket of protection. I open my curtains to see a fresh blanket of frost on the grass outside my house. The winter sun peeked through the snow-covered trees outside my window. July is the time that puddles become glistening skating rinks and when my thoughts remain cozy within a fuzzy hat. It is the time that I can see my breath float into the brisk air. There will be days when I want to crawl under my blankets and hide from the winter storm outside yet some days the winter takes my hand and drags me outside to enjoy the winter beauty. As I go out on my morning walk, the river appears still, yet it flows under the thin ice, awaiting the gentle touch of the sun.
Once I have returned to my bubble of coziness, I sit myself down with a cup of steaming hot chocolate with a million little snowballs floating in it. July is the month that everyone hides inside their house trying to hide from the blizzard of cold air right outside their window. We cozy up in front of our fires hoping that it will make us feel like warm melting butter while the birds shiver on the frost coated trees outside. Our tingling fingers defrosted as the glowing light from the fire heated us up.
Even though some of July’s days remained sunny and blue-skied that doesn’t stop the brisk frostbite from nipping you at any chances it gets. A week ago, our dreaded winter brought a great storm screeching through the town. The rain it had brought with it was cold and bitter, like icicles stabbing your skin. The winters deadly clutch had strangled and frightened every living thing on land. gloomy and dark clouds had rolled in from over the valley leaving us with darkness.
Stepping outside feels like torture but July’s weather does have its good side. opening your front door and breathing in the smell of fresh snow or spending days ice skating with your family. Every season has its ups and downs but winter has a special feeling. A feeling like your in a movie about a winter wonderland. The month of July brings in a new beginning for the town.
