Metaphor A figure of speech in which word or phrase is applied to an object or action which is not actually relevant or appropriate. “He was a lion on the battlefield”
Personification a figure of speech in which a thing – an idea or an animal – is given human attributes.“Lightning danced across the sky”
Onomatopoeia the formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named“Slam, Splash, Bang and sizzle” are a few examples.
Hyperboleexaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.“Im so hungry i could eat a horse”
Alliterationthe occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.“Sweet birds sang”
